The Southern Kentucky Model Aero Club (SKYMAC) was chartered in 1973 (AMA charter # 1158) and has worked hard to develop one of the best flying sites in the United States. In 1991 SKYMAC dedicated the flying site to late founding member Carson L. Stahl.
Our mission is simply to promote the hobby of radio control model aviation in all forms. SKYMAC owns a 800’ x 50’ paved runway in Bowling Green, KY. Our members participate in many different modeling disciplines from fixed wing aircraft to multirotor (drones) and everything in between. And now tether car racing! Our interests are as diverse as our membership. We have members from all walks of life from seniors to teens. Many of our members are military veterans. Our members fly warbirds, jets, multirotors, gliders and sport aircraft. If you are new to the hobby or haven’t flown in a while, we have members who are willing to provide flight instruction.
SKYMAC Airfield amenities include electric outlets at all pre-flight stations (canopy covered and open air), picnic tables, ADA compliant parking, on-site Port a Potty, and a concession stand, which is open during special events. We also have a few RV hookups for our weekend-long events.
The friendships formed and memories made are an added bonus to participating in the hobby.
